Susan Deleau, FCPA, FCA, ICD.D, has over 30 years of experience in accounting and finance and is currently the Chief Financial Officer for Jessiman Family Investments Inc.
Susan was formerly the Vice-President of Corporate Financial Reporting and the Vice-President of Global Taxation at Great-West Lifeco Inc., an international financial services holding company, where she provided financial reporting and tax accounting oversight for operations spanning the world. Susan is well known for her ability to collaborate and coordinate teams from regions across the globe with consistent “best in class” performance and the highest standard of excellence. In addition to her extensive accounting and finance responsibilities, Susan has spent many years teaching, training and mentoring accounting professionals. She has presented at numerous conferences and is currently Vice-Chair of the CPA Canada Board of Examiners. Susan was a Senior Tax Manager with a Big Four public accounting firm and has held senior positions with the CA School of Business where she was responsible for all areas of program design and development. Susan’s broad impact on the accounting profession led to her being granted a fellow for her significant contributions to enhancing the profession’s visibility, reputation, and credibility.
Throughout her career, Susan has been a mentor to CA and CPA students and candidates, and she has given back to the community with her involvement as a volunteer and board member for several Winnipeg not-for-profit organizations including: The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, St. Paul’s High School, Heart and Stroke Foundation, CPA Canada Financial Literacy Program and the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association Working Groups. She was also part of a team that provided affordable hockey skill development to children and helped raise over $150,000 for a local community centre, where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year.
Susan graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce, where she then went on to complete the Chartered Accounting program and receive her CA designation. Her accomplishments during her academic studies include being acknowledged as a gold medalist in multiple CA courses and achieving the Highest Distinction Award as the top accounting graduate at the University of Manitoba. Post-academia, Susan continues to add to her impressive list of achievements. She holds a distinction of Fellow (FCPA), which formally recognizes CPAs who have rendered exceptional service to the profession and in their communities, and a Financial Services Compliance Administration (FCA) credential. Most recently, Susan completed the Institute of Corporate Directors Course (ICD.D) through the University of Toronto, Rotman School of Management.
